You can be arrested if you reject MoMo payment because of e-levy — Deputy Finance Minister

Ghana’s Deputy Finance Minister, John Kumah has sent a stern warning to business owners who are rejecting momo payment because of e-levy.

According to him, it is a criminal offense to reject momo payment.

He revealed this after some Ghanaians complained that businesses are refusing momo payment over fears of getting taxed when withdrawing.

Speaking in an interview with Adakabre Frimpong Manso, the MP for Ejisu said the public is expected to be skeptical but with time they will understand and embrace the e-levy.

He, however, warned these businesses that the earlier they accept to live by the E-levy, the better because it’s criminal to refuse to sell a product or service to someone just because the person wants to pay via momo.
