VIDEO: School Building In Eastern Region Collapses On 4 Students, Teacher, Others
In the Eastern Region’s Upper West Akim District, a school building collapsed, leaving eight people—including a teacher and four basic school students—in severe condition.Wednesday’s Domeabra Zonal Inter-School Sports tournament was when the incident took place.
Three community members who attended the tournament are also among the victims. As to TV3 sources from Accra, they are presently undergoing treatment at the Adeiso District Hospital.
Declaring that the incident had occurred on the grounds of Sukrung Awemfi D/A Primary School, Zonal Vice Chairman John Priestly Badu acknowledged the incidence.
The weather was so bad that participants took refuge in the run-down school building. Regretfully, around 4:30 p.m., three classrooms housing classes one through three collapsed, trapping the victims.
They were saved by onlookers, who took them immediately to the hospital so they could receive treatment.
Since then, the victims health clinic has been visited by Mbrantihene Edem Atiemo and Gyasehene Edward Kotey.
