Opoku Onyinah addresses Bawumia’s running mate speculation

Prof. Opoku Onyinah, a former chairman of the Church of Pentecost, has addressed rumors that he was selected to be Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running partner for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

A significant contender to be Dr. Bawumia’s running mate in the election on December 7 is Prof. Onyinah.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, the well-known man of God increased skepticism because many saw his message to be an endorsement of the rumors.

In response to the varying responses to the post, Prof. Onyinah stated in a subsequent post that the original remark was unrelated to the current situation.

He added that there are other lessons in the post and that its idea was inspired by the 2015 theme of the Church of Pentecost.

After the Vice President is chosen to lead the NPP on November 4, 2023, a number of candidates have surfaced to be his or her running companions.

Rumour has it that Manhyia South Member of Parliament (MP) and Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh is the front-runner.

Other names circulating are John Ampontuah Kumah, Deputy Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Ashanti, and Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Deputy Minister of Education.

Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the Minister of Education, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader, and Ursula Owusu-Ekuful are rumoured to be contenders.
