Release frozen salaries by Friday or face our wrath – NAGRAT threatens Special Prosecutor

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has been given a two-day ultimatum by the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) to pay the salary of some teachers by Friday or face their fury. The Association claimed that over 400 instructors’ paychecks had been withheld by the OSP.

The Office claims that they are looking into “ghost names” associated with government payrolls.

However, NAGRAT President Angel Karbonu stated that this is insufficient rationale for deducting their pay.

“When you’re auditing somebody, until the audit is completed and you have conclusively arrived indicating that A, B and C are not qualified to earn a salary, you don’t go ahead to inflict purgery.”

In an appearance on NewsNite on Wednesday, he issued a warning: if the OSP is unable to release them by Friday, February 16, 2024, the association will have no choice but to take alternative action.

“He [Special Prosecutor] has not finished prosecuting people who have been given bribes in elections and things like that, it is not poor teachers that he is coming to zero in on,” he said.

“If he does not defreeze the salaries by Friday, he will have to be blamed for whatever happens after Friday.”
