CAF Fines Ghana Over Fans’ Clash during AFCON – Check The Amount

The Ghana Football Association has been fined $15,000 by the Disciplinary Board of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for supporter unrest during Sunday, January 14, 2024’s Africa Cup of Nations Match 4.

At halftime, at stand N°18, two groups of Ghanaian supporters got into a fight, according to the Safety and Security Official. Tear gas was used during the incident.

After reviewing all of the material presented in the course of these proceedings, including the facts, accusations, and legal arguments, the Disciplinary Board made its determination.

Within 60 days after the decision’s date, the Ghana Football Association is required to pay the fine.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) issued a statement urging all Ghanaians in Côte d’Ivoire, as well as supporters groups, to encourage the Black Stars to behave responsibly and adhere to the game’s rules.

In their statement, the Ghana Football Association (FFA) said, “To prevent any future occurrence, the FFA will liaise with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, under whose authority the supporters travelled to the tournament, and the leadership of the supporters groups.”
