BREAKING: Prof. Jobson Mitchual appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of UEW
The Governing Council of the University of Education, Winneba, has appointed Professor Stephen Jobson Mitchual as the upcoming Vice-Chancellor of the institution. He is set to assume office on 1st October 2023, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in teaching and administration within the Higher Education sector.
Prof. Mitchual holds an impressive academic background, including a PhD in Wood Science and Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2014, an MSc. in Wood Technology and Management from KNUST in 2005, and a BSc. in Agriculture Engineering also obtained from KNUST in 1993. Additionally, he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast in 1998.
He currently serves as a Professor of Wood Science and Technology and has held various academic and leadership positions at the University of Education, Winneba, and the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED). Over the years, he has served as a lecturer, dean, vice-dean, head of department, examinations officer, and on various boards and committees of both institutions.
Prof. Mitchual’s expertise lies in wood biomass energy, wood machining, sawmill safety, and technical education. He has been actively involved in teaching and supervising projects/theses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. His research findings have been published in reputable international journals, further contributing to the field of wood science and technology.
As a seasoned academic and administrator, he is a member of several professional associations, including the Society of Wood Science and Technology, USA, American Association for Precision Engineering, USA, Ghana Science Association, and the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants, Ghana. With his wealth of experience and accomplishments, Prof. Stephen Jobson Mitchual is poised to make a significant impact as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba.
